When rubber is formed into a tire, it is vulcanized. This is a process where rubber is mixed with sulfur and exposed to extreme heat. The result is a hard, durable rubber product – perfect for making tires. However, vulcanized rubber is difficult to recycle because it cannot be easily reformulated.
Until now, there has been no cost effective and environmentally acceptable way to reverse the vulcanization process. Our patented technology renders rubber from scrap tires useful again, so it can be reformulated and used for the manufacturing of new and useful rubber products.
Our technology is unique. It features:
- Rapid devulcanization
- No chemical solvent use
- Low energy use
- Continuous process
